Events on Israel/Gaza

UM has decided to exercise special caution in the coming period when it comes to allowing and/or facilitating events with a strong political character and with external speakers relating to the situation in Gaza/Israel. We will first wait for the results of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the premature termination of the event on 12 March.

That event showed that the university was unable to guarantee safety on that evening, which led to the lecture being ended early. The results of the investigation will provide more insights into the steps taken in the run-up as well as the events during the evening itself. This information will help us review the existing policy with which UM can guarantee such events are safe for everyone.

It is regrettable that we have to take a more cautious approach to facilitating events. However, the safety of our students, staff and guests is paramount. Requests for the provision of a room or other facilities will always be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The Executive Board will communicate its decision on the outcome of the investigation as soon as possible.
